Master bath renovation features glass counter tops by Nancy Gong.

Marie Kenton, President of Ketmar Development was working on a master bath update. Ketmar builds those fabulous dream homes. The mission was to freshen up the look with a unique Gong glass counter top. The scheme was set with the existing white paneled cabinets. It's so easy to pick out a gazillion finishes but often a challenge to make them work together. The homeowner visited the studio with Marie and Allyson Perdue, Interiors Coordinator with Ketmar. They fell in love with my desk top and we worked out the construction details.

"Replacing the existing countertops in Nancy's spectacular glass added reflective dimension, and created an atmosphere of tranquility with light. We couldn't have chosen a better medium for the intent!" ~Marie Kenton, President, Ketmar Development Corporation

The 3/4" hand chipped art glass, marble tile with subtle specs of green like the color tint in the glass and a new steam shower enclosure complete the new look. The rest is history.

"We've admired Nancy's work for many years. Nancy's craftsmanship produced an organic piece of art that weds light, movement and function. It's the focal point of our Master Bath renovation." ~Homeowner, Fairport, NY

Special thanks to the Fairport couple and Ketmar for being open to a new vision. And thanks to the team: Ketmar Development, First Editions and Rochester Glass.

Ensembles in the works – SinkCoPeds coming soon to Fergusons

It started with an idea Paul Schoenig had. It's turned into an exciting collaboration that is happening with Nancy Gong, Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery and Paul Knoblauch, metal artist. We're having fun designing SinkCoPeds. Paul Schoenig, Showroom Manager and I start by selecting a sink. Then I design a glass top to go with the sink. Next, Paul and I toss a few ideas around for a base or pedestal and voila, a one of a kind powder room ensemble appears loosely on paper and in our minds. The firsts of this ongoing series are in the works.

Take a look at your powder room. Need to freshen it up?! SinkCoPeds will debut in late October at the University Ave showroom. Watch for Stone Forest, Kohler, Stainless, brilliant metal work and amazing glass!

While you're there, take a look at a double sink chipped glass counter top available at Fergusons, 1349 University Avennue, 585-697-0348.

In the works since 2008, The Leonard Florence Center for Living in Chelsea, Massachusetts will be the first senior living center in the nation with two of the ten residences dedicated to ALS and MS patients with specially equipped rooms. The Center, the first Urban Green House® in the nation, overlooks Boston Harbor and is designed by DiMella Shaffer of Boston. It is the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home's third innovative housing residence for seniors. An artistic glass design for the sanctuary has been completed and creation of the art work is now in its early stages. Assisting with the installation will be Robie Window Systems.

The abstract design evokes the feeling of the Center's moto, "Living Life to the Fullest." Sweeping lines filled with texture will allude to life on and around the Mystic River. Judaic symbolism is woven throughout. Daylight will be filtered through the etched, hand-chipped and hand-colored panes. "I feel quite honored to have my art be a part of the first in the nation of such a needed facility. I am pleased the piece will play a role in helping to calm and reassure the souls of those who will visit the the sanctuary."

October will mark 30 years for me and the studio creating commissioned architectural art glass other art glass. I still get excited about my own crazy thoughts, visions and influences from outside forces. The passion for art glass is still strong and I'm humming away with lots of activity in the studio.

I am thrilled to be here and able to create art. I am also grateful for being able to have the privilege of creating beauty and meaning in glass for so many different settings and so many interesting people - many of whom have become lifelong friends. Thank you everyone for your business and interest in my art. And thank you all of you who have stood behind me by sharing your wisdom or expertise, provided support or brut muscle. It's really something to know the art that's been created will be here on earth for many, many years for multiple generations to enjoy. Art is a recording of our souls and our time. Keep talking about my art work and lets do another 30 years together! Please visit the newly designed web site at www.nancygong.com.

Artfully yours,

Nancy
