Architectural Art Glass

Architectural Art Glass

Art Glass for Architecture

Transform Your Space

Architectural Art Glass is glass artwork, which is either integrated into the architecture structurally, or is built into a structure. By design architectural art glass is of a size that plays an appreciable role in the function, emotional and or atmospheric feeling of the architecture and or its interior space.

We live and work inside geometric spaces often removing ourselves from nature, yet we are organic beings. The need to balance our human spirit within our structured spaces often brings people outside to connect with nature because it makes us feel good.

The use of contemporary glass artwork in architectural and interior design using color, textures and the movement of nature bring us closer to our innate existence and meaningful spaces.

Glass artwork is responsive to artificial and natural daylight, making it a living art form. Art glass has the ability to transform the feeling or mood of a space, from the interior or exterior, throughout the day and seasons.

Tell Your Story

Architectural Art Glass have the ability to convey joy, tell a story, to educate, exude a feeling while adding meaning, beauty, and identity.

Stained glass, fine art glass and other decorative art glass installations can build a sense of place. If the space feels good, people spend more time there.

Architectural art glass can also play a functional role in sound mitigation, connectivity, privacy and screening in the built environment. Glass artwork can add so much more to the experience in your building or your special place.

Each project is approached with research to achieve a sensitive and responsive design. A wide range of artistic glass processes are carefully chosen to best express the design.

These artistic processes include, but are not limited to embossed UltraGlas®, cast, fused, kilnformed, laminated, leaded, etched, carved, hand chipped, and painted glass.

Fine Art Glass, Commissioned Work

Architectural Glass Works

These architectural art glass processes bring life and special meaning to projects large and small. Each commissioned work is one of a kind, signed by the artist.

Femata Rapture ~ Ricker Residence
Fermata Rapture symbolizes the clients’ personal interests in diverse cultures, nature and most especially their love for music. At their request, no sheet music or music notes in the entryway of their home. Nearly seamless bold colors create a contemporary aesthetic of abstracted patterns set against a neutral interior. The feature artwork transforms the space with the day’s light as it moves through the glass artwork during both gray and sunny days.

Letchworth, Our Special Place ~ LiDestri Residence
The glass art work provides privacy from pedestrians and traffic on a busy urban street. The interior retains all of the available daylight and the artwork reminds the LiDestri’s of a very special place and a view of the sky. The free standing interior wall interacts with the environment; inside and out. Shadows morph into abstract images on the inside while reflections of the current sky conditions dance across the artwork on the outside. The design also adds interest and color to the street side.

Tibet ~ Boynton Residence
Helping to keep a memory alive, this colorful design captures a tiny bit of a rich cultural experience the clients had while visiting Tibet and Bhutan. Adding interest to the gray skies of winter at home, the prayer flags that flap in the Himalayan winds are part of the contemporary stained glass design providing a personal connection to the homeowners. The design is a peaceful, meditative focus visible from an open floor plan.

Fresh Air ~ Norry Residence
Elements from nature, unique to both the Bahamas and Colorado come together to portray the feeling of outdoor leisure time for a family’s special retreats. A sense of privacy is retained while daylight brightens this entryway.

Lyrical Illusions ~ Private Residence
Lyrical Illusions, the soul of this home sings. A series of 33 leaded glass windows designed in harmony with this Frank Lloyd Wright, California modern home nestled in the woods. The design presents itself upon approach to the front facade of the home with areas of great transparency to enjoy the view. The front entry is highlighted with hand beveled glass and other glass that diffuses the view into the home. Other areas such as the laundry room  allow light in, but screen the view looking from the outside in. “Even doing the laundry is a pleasant experience now.” ML, Rochester

Dateline Vivita ~ Private Residence
Vibrant colors, movement and bold forms interact with each other, symbolizing “the fullness of life” in these eight leaded glass panels. Embracing a contemporary structure inside and out with a classic mahogany door, the art glass sets the tone for a warm and welcoming home all year-round.

Red Tango
The spirited homeowner is an aspiring Tango dancer. This Redbud tree with a heart shaped leaf design is sentimental to her. Delicately etched, vibrant shades of purple, red, aurora and pink glass are surrounded by colorless translucent texture glass portraying various moods of nature with a gentle breeze.

Par-che’zi
The hallway leading to the lower level “honeymoon garden condo” has east facing windows. Daylight from the living room illuminates the hallway entrance through this leaded glass door. The artwork also diffuses the view between the two rooms. Coral, a favorite color, combined with amethyst, olive-amber and orangey red glass along with textured clear make a fresh color palette that compliments the ochre colored walls.
